Available Tasks (deprecated)

Use the Available Tasks widget to display the tasks that are not yet assigned to anyone and that are available for you to work on. This widget is deprecated, use Tasks instead.

By default, the Available Tasks widget interacts with the My Tasks, Human Workflow Diagram, and Task Information widgets. However, this default behavior can be changed by anyone who has editor rights to the page that the widget is on.

Using Available Tasks

In the Available Tasks widget, you can perform the following actions:

  • See more information about a task before you accept it by selecting the task, and then Open from the Actions list. The information about the task is displayed in the Task Information widget.
  • Work on a task by selecting the task and then clicking Accept. The task opens in the Task Information widget. It is also added to your list of tasks in the My Tasks widget and removed from the list of available tasks. If the task is part of a workflow and you have reader access to the process, the workflow is shown in the Human Workflow Diagram widget.
  • Sort the tasks, for example, by due date by selecting a criterion in the Sort By list.
  • Restrict the tasks that are displayed in the widget to a specific task type by selecting a task list from the list of filtered tasks.
  • Filter the tasks in the All tasks list, for example, to show only high priority tasks by selecting a criterion from the task list menu.

Configuring Available Tasks

If you own the page that the widget is on or have permission to edit the page, you can use the widget menu to configure the following settings for Available Tasks:
  • The lists of tasks that are available to users of this widget and what information is shown for each list. Complete the following steps to configure these settings:
    1. In the Properties tab, select Select Task Lists from the list of task lists, and then select the check boxes for the lists that you want to make available. The All tasks list is always available.
    2. For each task list, select the check boxes for the information you want the widget to show. The first property in the list becomes the title of the entries in the task list. Use the arrows to change the order in which the information is shown.
    3. Specify the number of tasks that are shown in a list of tasks. This value is applied to all of the tasks lists that are displayed in the widget.

  • How the priority of tasks is shown. Click the Priority tab to work with these settings.
